RAIN has hindered work on a temporary mess at the University of Technology in Lae, catering company IPI says.
The mess is expected to be completed next week.
The company was contracted to build a temporary messing facility at the Taraka campus in preparation for the resumption of classes.
IPI operations manager Dennis Sparks told The National that work on the facility was put on hold because of the continuous rain.
“So far, not much work has been done because of the continuous rain in the city,” he said.
Sparks said the temporary mess would be able to cater for the full capacity of the residential students.
He added that the new mess would be relocated along the car park near the female dormitories.
Meanwhile, the number of students who will be returning to the campus is yet to be confirmed by the Unitech management.
