THE heat is on for supremacy in the Lae Football Association premier soccer grand final between Poro and City United in the men’s division, while Poro takes on Bara in the women’s decider.

This will be Poro’s eighth final appearance and they will be out to defend their title against the team they beat in the last year’s finals.

The boys from the Papuan compound have won three of their past seven finals appearances.

Coach Peter Gunemba said the opposition would play hard to win but as the defending champions his players never-say attitude would come in good stead.

Gunemba will be counting on Hekari duo Nigel Dabinyaba and Raymond Gunemba to lay the platform in front for the younger chargers.

They will be supported by young Isaac Lalo, Troy Gunemba, Mosie Milubwa and goalkeeper Matheson Nasa.

City United coach Arnold Yanum said he was confident his players would do well.

“It is a must win for us and we will not take the Poro side lightly,”he said.  “Our preparation has been good and with no injuries in the camp the boys are looking forward to the game to end the four-years drought of entering the finals and not winning.”

The side has been boosted by  national league players like Jeremy Yasasa, Michael Keith, Agi Moses, Danny Kali and Began Yanum of Gigigira Laitepo Morobe, among others.
