THE ATEM-PNG chapter conference will be at the University of Goroka on Thursday.
Organisations and business partners have pledged financial support totalling close to K40,000, with K15,000 from the university management towards the one day conference.
“Universities the world over have a long history with industries because of the new knowledge generated through research that come about due to such partnerships,” said UoG vice-chancellor Musawe Sinebare.
“The gesture is pleasing but industries need to be more in tune with universities especially in PNG to see more break-through in all areas of research.”
The theme for this year’s conference is Students and Staff Transformation in Higher Education, PNG in Context.
The keynote speaker will be Paul Abela, executive director of ATEM Australia, with ATEM-PNG founding president Veronica Thomas.
Six participants will present their findings on topics ranging from a number of areas in higher education such as the participation of non-academic staff in research and publication to aid student and staff transformation.
