THE University of Papua New Guinea’s anthropology week gets underway at the National Museum and Art Gallery next Monday.
A three-day symposium Negotiating Identity in Urban Melanesia: Language and Ethnicity, will include discussions, a photographic exhibition and film show.
Anthropology lecturer and symposium organiser Dr Linus Digim’Rina said this year’s theme raised issues of interest from all walks of life.
“We have a multicultural environment particularly in urban settings, and there are sensitive undercurrent expressions practised by different groups, individuals, students and the general public,” he said.
