University workshop eyes strength and weaknesses

THE University of Goroka successfully hosted a one-week workshop for university centre directors and coordinators in Goroka last week.
Chancellor Joseph Sukwianomb said the workshop brought in centre directors and coordinators to consolidate programmes and identify strengths and weaknesses.
Sukwianomb said the university council and management were happy to help spread its programmes in both rural and urban areas.
The university has established three regional campuses and six study centres in the provinces.
In 2014, a campus was established in Honiara, Solomon Islands, and two graduations had been held so far.
Sukwianomb said the university’s top management team, headed by Vice-Chancellor Professor Musawe Sinebare and Pro-Vice Chancellor Teng Watinga, are responsible for the overall development and expansion of distance learning.
“We are committed to reaching out to the unreached through our distance learning programmes” he said.
“We support the initiative by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill not to build new institutions but expand what we already have,” he said.
