Unregistered candidates voting unfair on commoners

IT is unfair to allow candidates to cast their votes even though their names are not on the common roll while eligible voters facing the same problem are turned away, Registrar of Political Parties Dr Alphonse Gelu says.
He was responding to concerns raised by Patrick Varagat, the Transparency International interim chairman in East New Britain advocacy.
Varagat said many voters in ENB were turned away from the polling booths because their names were not on the updated roll while some candidates, whose names were missing, were allowed to cast their votes by the presiding officers.
