UOG executive deans also deserve respect

SOME of Uncle Zurro’s points cannot go unchallenged.

The interim TMT headed by Prof John Kola is respected.

Both Prof. Kola and Dr. Kopamu are credible academics and leaders (administrators) in their own rights.

The executive deans of the four schools at University of Goroka (UOG) must also be accorded the respect they deserve as they are our senior academics at this national institution.

If there were/are any administrative vacancy in the TMT, they would be the first to be considered by UOG’s Act (1997).

The executive deans are not desperate nor a renegade group.

They were hell-bent not on derailing the smooth process of returning to normalcy but making sure correct processes or steps are taken either concurrently or one after another for normalcy to return.

The concerns were for good and transparent governance.

The executive deans have contributed enormously to the development of UOG from its humble UPNG-GTTC days to a university both in academic programs and infrastructural developments.

Uncle Zurro is privy to UOG emails to have criticised the executive deans as he did.

He totally missed the genuine concerns raised through the emails for the Interim TMT to note but quick to point out a few blunders made in haste.

It seems Uncle Zurro is a new kid on the block and needs to learn from established staff, both academic and professional.

In case Uncle Zurro forgets, the referendum was the way forward as there was division between staff on whether to complete semester 2 or not.

Uncle Zurro’s tone is that of personal attack rather than addressing the core issues.

Many still believe there is no sense of direction thus leaving room for uncertainty.
