Letters

THIS letter is to the Education and Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology ministers to immediately look into the problems that the University of Goroka is going through.
Can an independent committee be sent to carry out an investigation into the University administration?
The institution does not meet the standard of a University at all.
I write this because what the teaching practice and industrial training students are facing.
Students travel to respective destination of training were delayed and the reason is “no money”.
No money? Is it a private University? This University is a national institution which the government is responsible for its need.
As a final year bachelor of education student of the University, I have observed several things which are not going well.
To mention few; TESAS students allowance were not paid since 2017, book allowance were deducted, professional training allowance were not being paid on time and many more problems.
Compared to other state universities which are running smoothly regardless of the current economic crisis that the country is going through.
