THE University of Goroka has opened a new open campus at Tuman Secondary School in Jiwaka to help students there to apply for degree courses after completing their grade 12.
The opening of the new campus coincided with opening of the secondary school on Thursday.
It was witnessed by UOG librarian Raphael Topagau, UOG Open Campus Highlands regional director Hugo Kop, Goroka businessman Michael Gotaha, representatives from provincial education division, office of Governor Dr William Tongamp and MP Joe Koim.
Kop said the opening showed that UOG was delivering degree programmes to students and village people.
He urged the people to take this as an opportunity to further their education.
Topagau, while donating reading books to the school, called on the students to improve their learning by taking education seriously.
He said the books given would help students to read and learn to help them in their studies.
“UOG is giving these books now to this secondary school, which will help the students in their knowledge,” Topagau said. “Once they register with the open campus, here they will increase their learning and study well.”
