UPNG fees confusing

Letters

ACCORDING to the print media and news on TV, Minister for Higher Education Research Science and Technology, acting vice-chancellor and interim council head, compulsory fees and accommodation fees at University of PNG for 2019 will be the same as those charged in 2018.
However, there is confusion among parents and students, as there was some written advice to some students prior to the change in administration of higher fees.
Given that the system has been down for two weeks now and cannot process students’ pro-forma invoices, can the new administration confirm in writing the actual amount of fees to be paid in 2019?
Immediately issue continuing students pro-forma invoices which parents can use to apply for loans.
This is especially required where the 2018 parent-paid fees were only partly refunded by Government.
This is to ensure parents do not over or under-commit themselves and incur unnecessary extra burdens.
Please act quickly as parents only have a week left to arrange all these.
This is unless Government and administration can assure or guarantee students and parents that their fees and lodgings will fully be paid by the Government and on time.
