Three clinics in NCD will receive high quality medical equipment funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to improve their work on HIV and sexually transmitted diseases.

USAID presented machines for internal examinations, x-rays, microscopes, medical waste disposals and clinical beds to NCD health services (NCDHS) last Friday.

NCDHS will hand the equipment to Koki, Kilakila and Kaugere clinics.

Koki clinic is managed by  Salvation Army while Kilakila and Kaugere are managed by the  Four Square Church.

The donation is part of a five-year project “strengthening HIV/AIDS for most at risk populations (MARPs),” funded by USAID and implemented by FHI 360 in collaboration with Four Square Church, Salvation Army and the family sexual violence action committee.

USAID director for Pacific region Dennis Wendel said he recognised the work of small groups working in partnership and sharing ideals.

“It is through interdependency that we can achieve successful results,” he said.

Provincial health adviser Dr Gary Ou’u applauded the effort of organisation to provide health facilities.

“We continue to provide people friendly service and sincerely uphold this partnership.

Four Square health secretary Pastor Rodney Tomuriesa said the church was bombarded with criticism regarding its involvement in the project due to the nature of the topic.

“We have touched people’s lives and the results are vey convincing,” Tomuriesa said.

“The most important thing is to change the attitude and mindsets of people.”
