Use lottery drive to help poor

The National, Thursday 06th of March, 2014

AFTER seeing hungry street kids delving into their  food  so heartily in The National (Feb 28), I cannot help but suggest that Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and his government  start a national lottery and give all the proceeds to the poor.
A big, regular national lottery will rake  in  millions  as people in this country like  to  gamble  and get rich quick.
After all, people spend millions on pokies.
Do not tell me this is a Christian country or that gambling is not allowed; just check out the pokies bars.
Winners will win big and the money raised can feed and shelter the poor.
If we run books of 10 tickets for K10 per ticket, we can make millions and distribute  the  books  to centres that have money, like the mine areas.
This lottery can run every six months and the prizes can be a nice house, cars, cash, etc.
I am sure firms  would like to be associated with the  government and will be willing to sponsor.
Let us give it a shot.
