Vaccine is not 666

Letters

THE word on social media about a microchip attached to a hypodermic needle and inserted into a woman’s shoulder muscle is shameful and an act of sabotage of factual information by those with a selfish mind to promote a failed campaign.
That should never be allowed to be circulated on social media.
Common sense must always prevail when dealing with newly-introduced technology.
Some of us are in this field and it is our responsibility to ensure clinical field trials of each new medical product meets required standards for human consumption.
There is nothing “666” about our work.
Each medical product goes through stringent laboratory and clinical trials before they are considered safe for human consumption.
Even so, they are not plucked out off the shelves and inserted into a mother or her child’s body.
These are the last line of recipients at the end of a long process and there is nothing sinister about the whole process.
People should always understand that no medically-certified person is out there to hurt anyone, especially a mother and her child.
There are very strict protocols to follow in every profession and those who think they are smart and can do whatever they want are caught and punished.
Some of us have participated in the clinical field trials in Papua New Guinea on several vaccines including the “pigbel” vaccine, measles vaccine, hemophilus influenzae B vaccine in various formats, typhoid vaccine and pneumonia vaccine at multiple stages.
All of these clinical trials have had a post vaccination observation for any adverse effect with sound results resulting in worldwide distribution .
In an exclusive vaccination campaign like the AstraZeneca vaccine today, it is routine for each country to monitor, document and report any and all aftereffects of vaccination on humans. It is good that reported events are investigated and, where necessary, adjustments are made.
Children all over the world are now benefiting from work done in PNG on most respiratory diseases.
The AstraZeneca vaccine has had clinical trials done on more than 50,000 participants in the United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil, Peru, Columbia and Chile with results reported by leading medical journals.
The vaccine is 74 per cent effective in reducing severe illness caused by the coronavirus, it is 100 per cent effective in preventing hospital admission and it is 100 per cent affective against death.
The campaign on 666 has been going on since my childhood on every new or looming important event including the 1989 total eclipse, the year 2000, the automatic telling machine banking system, the national identification (NID) campaign, the polio vaccine campaign and now the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Don’t people have better things to talk about?
The video clip involving the woman recipient pretending to be hysterical over a magnetic sensor and supported by two others in protective equipment and the camera man involved is a pre-organised and rehearsed act of information sabotage and they must be identified and prosecuted for misleading the public.
Papua New Guineans must also use their heads as not to act like three-year-old kids believing everything they see and hear.
People are dropping like flies and vaccines are already here, friendly countries are offering PNG expensive vaccines on a golden plate, what missed opportunities are we placing ourselves in?
With the country’s national immunisation coverage remaining at below 65 per cent, we can expect more disease and virus outbreaks because of such ignorance.
