THE first Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccination station in Papua New Guinea is now at the Port Moresby General Hospital (PMGH) where the Chinese medical team is assisting the hospital’s vaccination team in running the centre.
The vaccination station is open from Monday to Friday between 2pm and 4pm, and anyone can go to get the vaccine.
So far, more than 3,000 Chinese citizens have been vaccinated and since the official launch in PNG last Tuesday, hundreds of PNG citizens and other nationals have been vaccinated.

Tama  Wari:
We cannot avoid being around people because it is with people that we work and move around. I chose to get the vaccine to protect myself from getting the Covid-19 and to protect others as well, but, most importantly, my family.

Buana Lega:
I think it is for the best that everyone gets the vaccine because, from my observation, I see that the disease is very dangerous. Taking into consideration my family and others, I have to get the vaccine. There is a lot of misinformation regarding the vaccine and I have to set an example for my family. If I can take the vaccine, it shows that it is safe and others can take it as well.

Dario Mambear Buanaobra:
The number one reason for me to get the Covid-19 vaccine is to protect myself. The other reason was that one of the requirements in order to enter the Philippines is to be fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 so I have to be vaccinated in order to return home to my family for the holidays.

Fidelis Kinaliu:
I made the choice to be vaccinated just to protect myself from the Covid-19 since the vaccine is available. I am one of the first people in the company I work for to be vaccinated after being informed about the vaccine. Most of the people I work with are afraid of the vaccine, but I see that this vaccine from China will provide the protection I need.
Jeetar Gomona:
After getting the mini-medical checkup at the start of the vaccination process, I was told that I am okay so I decided to get the vaccine. The vaccine I believe is good and safe for us to take. It is also important for us to get vaccinated for our own health and to protect the people around us and the country as a whole from the Covid-19 and its impacts.

Tau Apana:
With so much talk going around and the risk of the Covid-19 still being high, I decided to get the vaccine to protect myself. I don’t want to worry whether I will contract the Covid-19 or not so I have to get the vaccine and be assured that I have some level of protection. It is for my safety so that I don’t have to worry about anything.

Ling Hee:
The vaccine is an important tool to protect people during this pandemic. I don’t want to get sick and I want to be protected, that’s why I got the vaccine. I was waiting for this Sinopharm vaccine from China. It’s good to see that many people have taken it and many are still coming.

Rose Apana:

At my age, it is important that I take the vaccine to boost my immunity and protect myself. The people in my village in Rigo, Central, are so scared to get the vaccine. Some missionaries went to the village and stopped people from getting near the health centre or taking the vaccine and even the videos that were shared is contributing to the people not wanting to get the vaccine. So, as an example and a testimony, I am taking the vaccine to go back and show the people that it is okay to get the vaccine.
