PAPUA New Guinea’s top-seeded female squash player Lynette Vai was propelled into the top five of the Girls Under-19 category in the Asian Junior Squash ranking released last week.

Vai was one of the four biggest movers in the latest ranking.

Jia Qi Andrea Lee of Malaysia maintains the top spot, with Sri Lakan Kalahe Arachchige in second.

Another Malaysian, Hanis Nazihah, jumped five places to third spot while Harshit Kaur Jawanda of India is on fourth.

Vai jumped from 15th spot into the top five after her outstanding performance at the Singapore Open last December.

The 17-year-old PNG champion said she was aiming for the top spot, which she believes is achievable if she continues her good performance.

The biggest surprise of the rankings was Aisyah Munirah of Malaysia, who jumped 51 spots to finish 29.

Momoka Nakahire of Japan jumped 20 spots, while Mama Sakai of Japan jumped 17 spots to claim 15th spot.
