VAILIMA caused the upset of the weekend thrashing Jamas three sets to nil in the NCD Volleyball Association men’s premier division at Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
The 27-25,25-26 and 25-22 score line was achieved with good ball control in passing that gave setter, Peter Jack, who was on target the entire game with options that enabled hitters; John Kila, David Numa, Paul Solomon and Graham Oeka to deliver.
Although Juma’s big hitters Charlie Iru, Poka Ai and Gerea Kila had the height and tried all attacking options in the book with Stanley Gele setting, they were simply outplayed by shorter and faster opponents on the day.
Jamas is missing the team combination of the Kila brothers, Richard, Veleke and Timo, who are now playing in the Hula village competition.
MJ Electrical U-Mi Yet displayed their best performance this season when they downed Ela Motors in straight sets. Running a better structured game, U-Mi Yet had ace attacker, Charlie Maino on fire leading with the number of kills both in front and back courts.
Charlie was well supported by Mathew Kape and Michael O’ongu who combined well with setter Tamarua Sebea for the win.
