A LAWYER representing former acting police commissioner Geofrey Vaki on his conspiracy charge will make submissions in the Waigani Committal Court next month.
Vaki, 62 and from the Bereina district in Central,  is alleged to have conspired with Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, Attorney-General Ano Pala and others to defeat the course of justice in the Paul Paraka investigations.
Senior magistrate Cosmas Bidar said police briefs were served just recently and Vaki’s lawyer would need some time to respond.
The lawyer told Bidar that he would speak on the submission when his client returned for his next mention. Vaki appeared on a national court extended bail.
He will return to court on July 5.
It is alleged that between June 16, 2014 and June 14, 2015 Vaki, in his former capacity as acting commissioner of police, conspired with O’Neill, Pala and others by preventing police from arresting O’Neill and the Finance Minister James Marape regarding the Paraka issue.
