THE Vanuatu government is committed to hosting a successful Pacific Mini Games in December next year.
This was announced by Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Charlot Salwai in opening the Pacific Games Council’s general assembly at the Warwick Le Lagon Resort in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
“My government is committed to be the host of this important event and it is also important especially for the young generation,” Salwai said.
He invited PGC members attending the assembly to visit the venues for the 2017 Games and see how committed Vanuatu was in hosting the Mini Games.
Council president Vidya Lakhan thanked Salwai, the council of ministers and the Vanuatu people for the commitment and assurance given to the 22 member countries of the council.
“Honourable Prime Minister, we are delighted to have your personal commitment and support to ensure that the 2017 Games is a successful one,” Lakhan said.
The PGC president told a joint-press conference that there will be an evaluation commission set up to review the initial plans and budget for the Games.
