NOANI Vare rose to the occasion again to help Cricket PNG Board 11 claim a hard fought victory on Friday after beating Legends 11 by three wickets.
Vare scored 38 runs to help her side chase down 112 target with Baia John (28 runs) to see them reach 7/114.
The Legends scored at a steady if not slow pace reaching 111 runs for the loss of three wickets with Sibona Jimmy (44 runs) and Tanya Frank (26 runs) scoring the majority of runs.
Meanwhile, a half-century from Barramundis captain Assad Vala saw the men’s Legends side beat the Cricket PNG Board 11 by 59 runs during the sixth round of the Isuzu T20 Bash on Friday.
The Legends won the toss and chose to bat first with Vala leading the way with an assured 57 runs off 47 balls while Dogodo Bau (21 runs) and Charles Amini Jr (12 runs) were the other notable contributors to the team total of 131 runs.
Nosaina Pokana and Kabua Vagi both grabbed two wickets each for the Board 11 along with Michael Charlie who dismissed Vala.
The Board 11’s chase found little success with wickets falling early through openers Gaudi Toka (5) and Norman Vanua (16) with the momentum shifting in favour of the Legends side.
The bowling attack from the Legends saw the Board 11 all out for 72 runs by the 16th over with Lega Siaka collecting three wickets.
Ale Nao and Charles Amini Jr helped Siaka chipped in with two wickets each as they kept the Board 11 to well below a hundred runs.
