WEWAK district administrator Ricky Wobar has taken delivery of a Land Cruiser from Wewak MP Jim Simatab and his district development programme to help police work.

The presentation of the vehicle follows a commitment Simatab made at Boikin, on the West Coast of Wewak, last month to set up a law and order desk in the district and issue a new vehicle to police.

“This innovative idea of establishing a law and order desk is simple but effective as people anywhere from the district can contact the desk using the available mobile network and expect to get a swift response as we have a vehicle available to move policemen anytime,” Simitab said.

“The vehicle will be kept by the district and be only used by police for callouts as past experiences have shown that vehicles issued to police do not last.”
