Vehicles sold illegally recovered

THE Usino Bundi District Development Authority (DDA) has recovered the four district vehicles improperly sold this year.
Local MP Jimmy Uguro also said the district works machineries at Snopas village in the Bundi local level government would be moved back to Walium.
Uguro said the district vehicles were sold for as low as K2000 and K3000 when the 2017 writ for the national election had been issued.
“No tender process was followed because Usino Bundi does not have a district tenders and supplies board,” he said.
Uguro said the DDA should only make recommendation for tenders and the provincial supplies and tenders board had to approve the tender.
He said the tender process needed to be completed. It is why the district had to bring back the four vehicles.
He said the District Development Authority Act had just come in and had no power to approve the district supplies and tenders board.
“The finance minister has to approve that process and all district assets that needed to be sold on tender follow that process as required under the Financial Management Act,” he said.
Uguro said people should not be questioning his action because he was only trying to correct the process.
“We don’t want to create enemy with anyone but we just want to correct and complete the process,” he said.
