Vendors unhappy
The National, Wednesday July 8th, 2015
INFORMAL sector vendors at venues in Port Moresby allocated by NCDC are disappointed with the lack of customers.
The two locations allocated were the area opposite Unagi Oval and Jack Pidik Park.
Vendor Maks Daniel, who has a stall opposite Unagi Oval, said there were no customers and she was losing business.
“It (informal sector) is a good initiative, but the concern is who will buy our goods and how are we going to make a profit,” Daniel said.
She used to easily make up to K200 an hour in her stall at Gordon market.
“I’ve been sitting here for almost three hours now and haven’t had a single customer,” she said.
Anotrher Aikiba Tali praised the initiative but there were no customers to buy her handicraft and blouses. NCDC health surveyor Isowa More said it was to ensure that foods sold were safe and healthy.
