Madang town women vendors are calling on town authorities to allocate a proper market for them.
Former deputy town mayor Chris Tomongo met villagers at the Madang district office to discuss the issue.
Tomongo said local women trying to sell their garden crops at the designated temporary main market at Mildas had been complaining of incidents of bag-snatching and pick-pocketing.
They find it much safer to sell their crops at the Rotary Park near Madang Resort.
But the Madang Urban Local Level Government had told Tomongo to have the market removed.
He said people working in offices in town or in shops found it more safe and quicker to buy greens and food at the market rather than travelling to Mildas market.
