The Pacific Games Council Executive Board has expressed satisfaction with the preparations for the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby.

The board noted that the time-frame for delivery of venues remains tight but the Games Organising Committee was managing this well to ensure all was in place in time for the Games.

Pacific Games Council president Vidhya Lakhan from Fiji delivered this all-important message following last week’s visit to the Papua New Guinea capital.

“I and my Executive Board were very impressed with the state of planning and preparation demonstrated by the 2015 Games Organising Committee and the PNG Pacific Games Association during our visit,” he said in a prepared statement released from Port Moresby.

“They are aiming to host a very successful Games and the PGC Executive Board is confident they can achieve it, provided all stakeholders remain totally focused on the delivery of the Games venues in a timely manner.”

The Council held its first executive board meeting for the year in Port Moresby last week and was able to get the latest briefing and make observations on the preparations for the Games.

The PGC board toured the venues to see firsthand work progress.
