THE relatives of the a 12-year-old girl who died after police officers allegedly fired into a car she was travelling in with her family want police to take some action.

Felin Bune was travelling in the car when police gave chase and fired into it along Waigani Drive.

Dad Don Bune said some of the officers involved in the shooting were still on active duties.

“It has been over one month now since the fatal killing of our daughter and yet no arrest has been made,” Bune said.

“The names of the eight officers are known, evidence has been presented with eyewitness testimonies and yet we are still seeing those policemen involved in active duties at Boroko police station.”

It follows a police statement which said: “In the fatal shooting of the child and wounding of the mother, the police internal investigation into the matter and ballistic test taken from the pellets lodged in the mother reveal that they came from a police-issued firearm used by Boroko police.”

Statements have been obtained and policemen identified will face criminal charges for murder and attempted murder.”
