A SMALL village in New Ireland held a celebration last Wednesday to mark the opening of a reconstructed road into their village.
Tome village in Kavieng experienced this breakthrough event after many years of struggling with bad roads.
The celebration saw more than 100 guests invited to witness the opening.
Among the guests were Governor Sir Julius Chan and his provincial executive council members.
Construction of the K3.5 million road started from Kaut Junction to Tome and going to Kaut, Lokono and Kavin in the Tikana local level government (LLG) area. Provincial works manager Solomon Pela described Sir Julius as a visionary leader.
