THE village of Mepu, in Kiunga town, Western, now has a second 9000 litre water tank.

Project team leader Wanai Hari said the water tank was purchased and installed by unther CMCA Middle and South Fly Health Programme (CMSFHP) with help from the Mepu community.

The first tank was installed last year.

Hari said he was pleased to see the project completed and the community was thankful for the project given the lack of rain in the area due to the current El Nino weather pattern.

Mepu Village Planning Committee chairman Dominic Elias thanked the CMSFHP and its team, and Mepu youths for the completion of the project.

He said it was essential for the village.

“I express my thanks to everyone involved: my youths, Wanai and Joshua, and CMSFHP for these two tanks,” he said.

“My community needs these tanks and they will serve us with clean drinking water.”

He said the tanks were located in a central area so that all villagers could have access.

“We have one in the centre of the village close to the sporting field and elementary school and the other is close to the community hall and small market,” he said.

Elias asked the community to take care of the tanks.
