A MOROBE man is grateful to businessman Simon Sia for giving him the opportunity to see Port Moresby.
He was also grateful to Sia for giving him the opportunity to fly on an aircraft.
Joe Enoch, 37 and father of 10 from Katanga village in Menyamya district, joined Sia and six others last week to walk the Menyamya-Maburu trek, reaching Port Moresby last Thursday.
“I am so thankful to Simon Sia and George Anian for inviting me to be part of this walk to get here to Port Moresby. It is a place I have only heard stories about,” he said.
“Now that I have seen the country’s capital, I will treasure this in my life, knowing that such an opportunity may not come again for a simple village man like me.
“What makes it more memorable for was sleeping in a high-class hotel (Gateway).
“I will also have another first-time experience getting on a plane to Lae.
“This indeed was my cherished Christmas gift presented to me by Simon and George.”
Enoch comes from Katanga village which was where the trek begins.
He is willing to trek with others who want his guidance.
Sia is planning another walk.
“We are considering taking this trek again (maybe) next year,” Sia said.
“George is 63 now and I am 58.
“We want to be physically and mentally fit as we grow older.
“We will definitely test our agility whether along this trek or the other two – Kokoda in Northern or Black Trail in Morobe.”
