Villagers call on MP Duma to help them get electricity

Highlands

MORE than 3000 people in the Baisu area in Western Highlands have requested Hagen Central MP William Duma to bring electricity to their village.
The Elti, Pinambe, and Pinambe Wia clans have obtained a quotation from PNG Power amounting to K193,000.
They presented the quotation to the joint district budget priority committee members two weeks ago.
PNG Power engineering design manager Piki Ravusiro said in the quotation that material procurement will commence once payment has been made.
The scope of the work includes a 500kVA 22kV/433-250V transformer, 2km of 22kV distribution line, labour and transport, and 10 per cent tax (GST).
Leaders said the wellbeing of the community from Baisu would be improved in terms of education, health, agriculture, and socio-economic aspects when power goes into their area. They thanked Duma for his positive response.
Committee John Komonga commended the Pinambe people and their councillors for organising themselves to request for such an impact project.
