THE South Fly community living in Kiunga, Western, have challenged their parliamentarian Aide Ganasi to make education a priority in development plans.
Charlie Buia of Kulalae village in South Fly, who is the education superintendent for North Fly, said that during a gathering for Ganasi and Western Governor Ati Wobiro in Kiunga last Sunday.
Buia said there was a demand for education in South Fly but past leaders had not made it their priority and responsibility to address the situation in their electorate.
“I speak as an educationist and challenge our member to develop education in South Fly,” he said.
He said unlike the Middle Fly and North Fly electorates, South Fly was behind in education and he urged Ganasi to do something quickly as many young people were uneducated.
Wobiro was challenged to support his three open members and put two high schools in each electorate.
Giwo Lalamo, from Sebe village in South Fly, told Wobiro that the Fly provincial administration must be seen to drive key projects such as education.
“There are two main problems we need to correct and that is to correct the leadership problem at the political level but the biggest challenge is how we are going to correct the big mess at the provincial level,” Lalamo said.
He told Wobiro that the provincial administration was his engine room and everybody was now looking at how he would perform.
Both Wobiro and Ganasi assured the South Fly community in Kiunga that their concerns were very important and education was definitely on their list of priorities they will be working on during their term in parliament.
