MORE than 6000 living in three villages near Wabag town, Enga are looking forward to receiving electricity service soon.

The rural electrification programme was funded by MP Robert Ganim to reach Sari, Tole and Kaiap villages, west of Wabag.

The project will benefit two primary schools, six elementary schools, an aid post and five churches.

People from the three tribes cleared the sites for the power poles last week under the supervision of PNG Power employees.

Piyau tribe leader Don Kuku said it would be the first time the people would have access to electricity.

“We are happy to go out and cut down all the trees and make way for the power poles,” he said.

Ganim visited the electorate last week and allocated K85,000 to Neno Construction to upgrade the road from Sari to Kaiap.

Ganim said a 1.5km from Aipus to Iryala and 1.7km Sopas to Sakarap road would be constructed after Sari-Kaiap road upgrade.
