MORE than 7000 people living at Mugmamp, in the Anglimp local level government, Jiwaka, have called on their MP Komun Joe Koim to help provide a proper bridge so they can access good and services.

They presented a pig to the MP’s father, Koim Kuli.

People from Mumi, Kanipaka and Kilgimp gathered at Mapi village to air their grievances to Kuli and other leaders.

Chairman for Mugmamp Forest Association, Issack Noki said the pig was given as a token of appreciation.

“We are happy by giving this pig to you because we believe in Koim.”

Noki said they had trust in Koim  because he had done a lot for the  electorate.

“We hope that Koim will do something useful for us,’’ he said, adding they were already enjoying a loan given to them through a K2 million investment Koim had made at the National Development Bank.

Noki  said one of their biggest needs was a proper bridge. He said they have been living like their ancestors for years.

The only Bailey Bridge that had linked them to the outside world was washed away by floods in the Waghi River about 20 years ago.

“Since then, we have been living like our ancestors,’’Noki said.

He said they risked their lives when crossing the  river.

“We sometimes lose store goods and garden produce while trying to cross it,’’he said
