KOKOROGO villagers in Central recently raised more than K28,000 to rebuild their church damaged by strong winds two years ago.
Fundraising chairman Venina Kada of the Salvation Army church at Kokorogo village in Rigo district said they needed K300,000 to rebuild the church.
The church built from traditional bush materials was established in 1962. Kada said due to its remoteness, they had to bush materials because they were subsistence farmers.
“Kokorogo is up on the mountain and road condition is poor,” Kada said.
He said the church members had been contributing whatever they could earn from their gardens but the drought last year set them back a bit.
However they have managed to raise K28,906 so far.
“We held a fundraising on Oct 01 at the church ground were many people attended and contributed,” he said
“The target is K300,000 and so the fundraising is open for the general public to assist.”
