Visiting Wigmen beat Eagles

Hela Wigmen secured a 14-4 win over the Mt Hagen Eagles in Sunday’s Digicel round-eight match at Rabiamul Oval in Mt Hagen.
A try from Eagles centre Joe Honk opened the scores.
The unconverted try saw the home side maintaining a 4-0 lead at half-time.
The second half showed class from the Wigmen with the likes of former Papua New Guinea Hunter and visiting captain Benjamin Hetra, fullback Sylvester Bulu and Benton Leme running into space to open up the Eagles defence.
A try from Wigmen hooker Junior Manda saw the visitors draw level at 4-4.
It was later converted by Leme to give the Wigmen a 6-4 lead.
Soon after the restart, Hetra crossed over at the far right corner for an unconverted try to advance Wigmen’s lead to 10-4.
With three minutes remaining before the final whistle, Wigmen winger Richard Tuwayu crossed over the Eagles’ tryline at the far left corner for an another unconverted try.
The team from Hela went on to claim victory.
The Wigmen next play Enga Mioks in Port Moresby on Sunday.
