THE Middle Fly district in Western has welcomed 14 village health volunteers who completed six weeks of training at Moian village.

The volunteers were trained under the Community Mine Continuation Agreement Middle and South Fly health programme.

Programme coordinator for Middle Fly Nelson Witi said volunteers were very important and needed the support of the community and its leaders.

“I am pleased to see 14 volunteers who will assist the community health workers in each village in Middle Fly to advocate good health practices,” Witi said.

“They will need the community and its leaders and the community in turn will need them.”

Witi said the village health volunteers were now equipped with the knowledge and skill to combat and prevent diseases.

He thanked the people of Moian and other Middle Fly villages for their support during the six weeks.
