Volunteers hailed for work in remote Highlands areas

THE director of the Volunteers In Action (VIA) missionaries of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in South Pacific
Division is happy with the work of the volunteers in the country.
Rev Nill Watch who visited Western Highlands last week to check on the work of VIA missionaries, commended them for spreading the word of Christ to people in remote parts of the country.
Watch came up from Australia to evaluate the work of VIA missionaries in Sandaun, Western, Hela, Southern Highlands, Enga, Western Highlands and Jiwaka.
He said that Australia was a big country with huge population but, it had fewer Christians than PNG.
He commended 104 VIA missionaries for taking the gospel to the remote parts of the country despite challenges and struggles.
He said that through the work of VIA the gospel reached previously unreached areas in PNG.
He said his office would sponsor more VIA missionaries.
He was accompanied by Pastor Jim Wagi, of Western Highlands mission.
They went by road and air.
Watch visited Minimb church in the Mul/Baiyer district last Saturday and celebrated the Sabbath with the congregation members.
In his sermon, he emphasised more about the love of God to mankind and the death of Jesus on the cross based on gospel of John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that who ever believes in him shall not perished but have everlasting life.”
Elder Joe Tep on behalf of the SDA communities in Mul Baiyer and Western Highlands thanked Watch for his visit to the province.
