Vote good leaders to lead Jiwaka

Letters

THE Jiwaka people have a very important decision to make in this general elections, which is few months away.
They have a lot of questions in mind.
Will they find the right leader to lead the province into the future and grant them their wish or will they cry the same cry every five years?
Finding good leaders is not about the money a candidate dishes out to voters or the last minute services.
True leaders do not believe in free handouts.
They believe in implementing key projects that are durable, sustainable and can benefit the majority.
Our vote is very important.
It is our future and our children’s future.
We cannot sell our votes cheaply to candidates that hand out cash, beer, food and promises of employment and projects when we know for sure that we do not qualify for them.
Voter-education is very important.
Most of our people do not know how to choose leaders that possess true leadership qualities, which is why they go for money.
They keep electing crooked leaders and continue to suffer.
Candidates that give you free handouts are not good leaders.
Study their lives, know their personalities and characters.
Study their leadership experiences, track records, education qualification and how well they can manage people’s money before you make your choice.
To the candidates, are you a genuine candidate?
Do you possess the qualities to lead your people?
Can you talk boldly in parliament and raise issues of concern affecting your people?
Jiwaka needs God-fearing and matured leaders with the vision to make it a model province.
This is not easy.
The only way to fix the province is through people’s vote in this election.
Their votes will determine the destiny of the province.
The founding fathers’ plans, visions and dreams for this province to paddle towards the road to prosperity is not followed.
Jiwaka needs true leaders, not just politicians, pretenders and opportunists who seek power to become overnight millionaires.
The province needs leaders who are honest, transparent, accountable, people-oriented, bold, decisive and God-fearing.
Before going to the polls, voters need to ask themselves if their leaders will be able to:

  • SOLVE the debate over the legitimacy of the establishment of the provincial headquarters;
  • REVIVE the rundown Waghi Mek coffee plantations;
  • IMPROVE the poor road conditions to Jimi and other parts of the province so that they can last longer;
  • OPEN up the remote and untouched Kambia to the outside world;
  • REDUCE the lawlessness in the province;
  • IMPROVE the standard of education in Jiwaka so that it competes with the best in the country in terms of academic performances; and,
  • FULLY utilise the agricultural, cultural, and tourism potential of the province among others.

This election is very crucial not like the past one.
It will make or break us as a province.

Diehard Jiwakan,
Voice for the voiceless
