A COMMUNITY leader in the Eastern Highlands province has urged Papua New Guineans to vote for upright and honest people in the election.
Pastor Peter Ropra said voters should look for candidates who were mature and driven by vision and passion to serve the people.
He said leadership had no place for rhetoric and inconsistencies in decision-making.
“Leadership is about integrity, credibility, truthfulness and honesty and true leaders are guided by good ethics, principles, standards, values and morals based on the word of God,” he said.
Ropra likened political leadership without ethics and values to a building without a strong foundation. It will crumble under pressure.
“A nation is as strong as its leaders, and nations rise and fall at the hands of its leaders,” he said.
“This is the year we can carefully choose the right leaders who will lead us into success and prosperity.”
