ON behalf of the people of Wabag district, I salute Robert Ganim for starting the K2 million rural electrification programme.

Even though Wabag is the capital of Enga, our rural communities have been in darkness for ages.

Power brings light and light brings hope and change for the people.

Only visionary leaders can see the future of something done today.

I presume Ganim is seeing something for Wabag in the years to come and the rollout of rural electrification programme is the evidence of his vision.

On the same note, I humbly request those representing the voice of the silent majority of the people of Wabag and Enga to look into changing the face of Wabag town.

We have lost the pride and dignity of once having a clean and organised town. We now have too many container shops and street sellers selling betel nuts, cigarettes and Asian products everywhere.

It would not cost much to set up a decent shopping centre and ask well-known companies such as Papindo, SVS and ECSO to come and rent the building to deliver quality services to the people of Wabag and Enga.

I believe in change.  I do not believe in what other people may talk about Wabag and Enga because change can only happen for those who believe in it.
