LAE Metropolitan Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Jr has appealed to students in the city to concentrate on their studies and avoid fights and illegal activities.
He made this appeal after a Grade 10 student of Bumayong Secondary School was killed last Friday in a school fight. According to police reports, fighting had been going on for about two months and police did their best to assist the school administration to stop it.
Wagambie told The National that a suspect was arrested last Saturday morning in relation to the killing
He said the suspect, another Grade 10 student at the same school, was in police custody.
“Police are preparing charges against the suspect but he seems to be cooperating well with our investigators, therefore, more arrests will be made soon,” he said
“I also appeal to the relatives of the deceased to let the law take its course and they should not harm any school properties or innocent students.”
He said only a few students were involved in the fighting and killing in organised factions while the majority of students were not involved.
“Police will work closely with the board of management and school administration to bring back normalcy to the school,” he said.
Meanwhile, police have maintained their presence inside Bumayong school compound.
