BOROKO police station personnel have been urged to approach the public professionally when dealing with cases, an official says.
Asst Comm/ACP for National Capital District and Central Anthony Wagambie made this remarks during the Boroko police station reopening on Wednesday.
“This new police station symbolises that all police officers should leave their old work habits behind and begin a new one.
“Our job is to serve therefore, we must serve the public in a good manner,” he said.
He said officers must turn up in uniforms during working hours, had good attitude towards work, improve on work ethics and discipline and be friendlier to the public when they approached the station to lay complaints.
Wagambie told the management and officers of the police station to take good care of the building.
“This is a challenge to us, we are moving into a newly refurbished police station that will make us feel comfortable to work,” he said.
“It is upon you to improve on your performances, bring professionalism in your approach, punctuality and take care of the infrastructure.”
He also extended his gratitude to the Australian Federal Police and the people of Australia for showing interest through their partnership in refurbishing the new police station.
Meanwhile, Police Commissioner David Manning said a 30-year corporate plan for Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary had been launched and would be used to provide a clear direction needed to rebuild the force.
