TEAM National Capital District got a morale-boosting sponsorship, courtesy of MS Wagambie Lawyers in Port Moresby, on the eve of the national hockey championships in Madang.
Mark Solien representing Team NCD was a happy man after MS Wagambie Lawyers came to the team’s rescue with a set of new uniforms for the championships.
“I want to say thank you to our sponsor, Michael Wagambie and his law firm for supporting hockey in National Capital District,” he said.
Wagambie urged Team NCD to play to their best while wishing them good luck.
He said Team NCD should enjoy the game, be violent-free and play to your best.
“Winning is not everything but you should give your best shot at the championships,” he said.
The championship has attracted 15 teams from Port Moresby, NCD, Lae and hosts, Madang.
Speaking from Madang last night, PNG Hockey Federation representative Thomas Kahai said the three-day tournament should be exciting with the number of teams participating.
Kahai said Lae had the highest number of teams with five, Madang and Port Moresby had four each while NCD had two teams participating at the event.
Interestingly, Kuseng village along North Coast Road of Madang has fielded two teams while Madang Urban had two teams competing at the event.
Kahai, who is an officer with the PNG Sports Foundation, said Manus, Rabaul and Kokopo in East New Britain could not attend due to high costs of travelling.
