Waghi school thankful for book donation

STUDENTS and teachers at Waghi Valley Secondary School in Jiwaka have thanked the Jiwaka Students and Graduates Association for donating eight boxes of text books to their school. The secondary school’s Betty Wena and deputy principal John Kapi commended the executives of the association, led by president Jonah Anton, for giving back to the province and contributing to human resource development. Wena said the association was made of many graduates who wanted to do their part to ensure the next generation were given the help and direction needed to complete their secondary education and attend universities and colleges.
“You students must take heed of their message to be somebody tomorrow,” she said. “Books are very important tools for learning. “We thank you all for these text books which will improve learning for our students.” Waghi Valley Secondary is one of the five secondary schools in Jiwaka that benefited from the resource books. The books, from a total of 46 boxes, were sourced from Australia through a charity organisation known as Project Yumi Inc. Yumi Project Inc has built an effective partnerships with local communities in Papua New Guinea to enhance the quality of education and healthcare.
