Waigani courts close for year

THE Waigani courts officially closed for the judicial year 2011 on Tuesday.
The courts will open for the 2012 judicial year on Feb 6.
Although officially closed for the Christmas and New Year break, there will be five vacation judges still on duty to hear urgent matters, court officials said yesterday.
The internal court arrangements are that the five vacation judges on duty are: justices Catherine Davani and acting judge Lawrence Kangwia dealing with crimes, justices Derek Hartshorn and acting judge Royale Thompson hearing civil matters, with justice Ambeng Kandakasi handling mediations.
