Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League chief executive Reatau Rau confirmed yesterday that PNG Hunters forward Henry Wan has been cleared of all charges against him by a court in Australia.
Rau said Wan was acquitted of a charge of sexual assault for which he had been in detention for seven months but was now a free man. Wan returned to PNG last week.
Rau said it was a great outcome and the PNGRFL stood beside Wan in the court.
He said Wan appeared in court on Nov 6, 7 and 8 and was acquitted of the charge.
“The PNGRFL now considers the matter closed,” Rau said, adding that Wan was back in Mount Hagen to spend time with his family.
Hunters coach Michael said Wan has been named in the Hunters pre-season training camp to start on Dec 4 but would take some time off to be with his family in Mt Hagen and join the rest of the team later.
