WANDERERS beat Juggernauts 28-19 win in their round 10 Capital Ruby Union premier grade fixture yesterday at Bava Park, Port Moresby.
Wanderers captain Foster Maso was satisfied with the win.
“Even though this was not our best performance, a win is a win no matter what, and credit goes to the boys for their effort,” Maso said.
“We had a good team spirit going on. We try not to be too cocky but we try to score as many tries as we can.
“I’m confident in the boys that we can do better. We try not to underestimate teams and to stick to our game plan.”
Even though Juggernauts started well scoring the first try, but after Wanderers knocked over a penalty, the Maroons picked up the pace and finished strongly.
Maso nominated lock Aiia Peter, who scored two tries, as the player of the day.
“Aiia is one of the younger players who moved up to the premier grade this year and so far he has been great.
“He worked the hardest in this match to help the team win,” Maso said.
“We’ll focus on our skills at training because our handling and line-outs were not good.”
Wanderers 28 (Aiia Peter 2 tries, Foster Maso, Arthur Marai tries; Sonny Wapo 4 con ) Juggernauts 19 (Eddie Kelepa, Jesse Waune, Robinson L tries; Shane Litto 2 con).
