Wantok Radio Light prepares for meet

MORE than 500 people are expected to attend the PNG Christian Broadcasting network’s Wantok Radio Light share-a-thon launching on Saturday at its new station site at Gerehu Stage Two in Port Moresby.
PNG superintendent of the Assemblies of God church and Cornerstone Gateway church senior pastor, Rev Tony Dalaka, will launch the one-day event.
Wantok Radio Light managing director, Pawa Warena, said the share-a-thon was an annual event held every October, to raise funds for the ministry’s operational expenses and its network expansion.
During the share-a-thon week, on Oct 24-31, Wantok Radio Light supporters could make financial pledges and then make payments within the week or in six months.
Mr Warena said the focus of the 2009 share-a-thon was on “soul winning” and the set target for this year was K2.5 million. 
He said donations in cash and kind could also be made during the closing dinner on the Oct 31.
He said listeners were also given the opportunity to contact the station by phone, text, fax, emails or visit the station to make pledges.
Meanwhile, a roadshow has started in the Highlands region to raise awareness about the fundraising drive.
The road show started in Mt Hagen last Friday and will end in Lae today, while shows in Mt Hagen, Kundiawa and Goroka hasbeen hailed as successful.
