Wantoks aim for No.2 slot
The National, Friday February 26th, 2016
WANTOKS have a chance to take over the second spot from Stingers when they play a double header in the Port Moresby women’s softball competition tomorrow.
They will play Bears at 10.15 and later in the main game, they will meet struggling Chebu.
Stingers, who will be on bye, will watch helplessly as Wantok will stand up to be counted on the diamonds.
United Sisters will meet their match against their sister team, Yokomo, to see if they can retain the number one spot.
Yokomo who are currently on fifth spot, can spring surprise as Wantoks did last week against Sisters.
The Bears going up against Wolves will be a grudge match as former teammates would be taking on each other.
Former Bears pitcher Maggie ToBolton will be leading her side against Nadia Bais, Antonia Kinit and their young side. This is expected to be a very close game.
Gazelle should pick their much needed competition points against Yokomo and Mariners. However, their performance will depend on their attendance in training.
Standings: United Sisters 23, Stingers 21, Wantoks 20, Wolves 17, Yokomo 17, Gazelle 16, Bears 14, Chebu 12 and Mariners 8.
