BULOLO district, in Morobe, initiated its first ward councillors summit to enable them to align ward development plans in line with expectations of local level governments and the district.

Bulolo hosts six LLGs and 110 wards.  K3 million from the district services improvement programme was allocated to councillors to roll-out community projects in each ward.

MP Sam Basil announced the initiative at Maniyanda station, in Watut, witnessed by presidents Waka Daiman (Watut), Noel Kipindu (Wau Rural), Okam Paton (Mumeng) and the joint  district planning and budget priorities committee members last Saturday.

“I want to see 110 wards build their own community centres, inclusive of a ward office, to cater for ward reports, a two-man health post and elementary schools among others,” Basil said

“The aim is to instil more trust and confidence back to the six LLGs to enable them to improve human livelihoods in respective communities.”
