PEER education on the dangers of HIV/AIDS by students themselves is a vital aspect for the prevention of the epidemic in the country.
This was the message by Wardstrip Demonstration School principal Sam Puwa yesterday when he received, t-shirts and awareness materials from officials from the Moresby Northeast electorate.
Wardstrip is the first school in the electorate to roll out the HIV/AIDS initiative.
The K90,000 for the programme was funded by MP Andrew Mald.
Mr Puwa said the support was a major boost for the HIV/AIDS awareness at Wardstrip which began two years ago.
He said since than Grade 7 and 8 volunteer students from the school had been engaged in peer education for the lower grades in line with the health and personal development curriculums.
